ENGLISH HOUSEWIFE SAYS “THANK YOU” TO N.Z. COUPON SAVERS

Anyone i who doubts the value of coupon saving as a means of helping Britain might be influenced to change that opinion y reading what Mrs D. Donohue, a Lancashire housewife, who air-mailed her letter to the Beacon’s. editor on February 2, has to say on the subject; Here is her letter;— “Your local paper, dated November'?, 1947, has come into my possession, and I would like to say that whilst I found the contents generally interesting, one item I, as a British housewife, found, of great interest. The item appeared in your “Local and General” column, as follows: ‘Coupons saved. Total values of coupons saved for Britain and received at the,, Whakatane Post Office up to November 1, are: Butter 275-2-lbs., meat £286 Is 6d, .sugar 25 lbs., tea 27Jlbs.’

“This seems to me to be a wonderful effort and sacrifice, and I, being just one of Britain’s ordinary housewives, would like to say “Thank you” to the Bay of Plenty housewives for this generous action: I consider it is very noble of you, and believe me, all your help is really appreciated here in Britain.”
