Whakatane Bowling Club Pays Tribute To All Its Past Presidents

All past-presidents of the Whakatane Bowling Club and their wives were the guests of the Club at- its greens on Saturday. Mr J. W. Wilson, president, addressed the. gathering, paying tribute to the efforts of the past-presi-dents on behalf of the club and to the way they had improved the club buildings and greens to the l::gh standard that they show today. Before he presented badges, l Mr Wilson asked all present to stand for a few moments in respect to the memory of the late Messrs E. A. Cur rah and A. E. Bridger. As each of the past presidents came forward to receive his badge his services to the club were announced and commended by all present. Past presidents, and their terms of office were Mr A. J. Canning, 1920-21; Mr W. R. Sloane, 1922, 23, 27, 28, 29, 37; Mr C. G. Caisley 1926; Mr R. W. Schofield 1930; Mr R. F. Smith 1931, 32, 41; Mr C. W. Lo'ane 1933-34; Mr C. N. Chamberlain 1935-36; Mr S. McLeod 1939, 40; Mr W. G. Henderson 1942, 1945; Mr L. Littlejohn 1943, 1944; Mr P. Dixon 1946.
