Outright Win For United Cricket Team Against Putaruru

United cricketers scored an outright win over Putaruru in a weekend match. ,

United won the toss and elected to bat, McKenzie and Palmer opening the innings. The pair put on 120 runs before they were separated, McKenzie being caught after compiling 73 runs in quick time. Three more wickets fell quickly but Alexander, who finished with 34 not out, stopped 1 the rot. However after Palmer was bowled for 79 a pleasing return to form, the other batsmen failed and the side was all out for'2l4.

Putaruru then took strike and | were all out just after afternoon tea for 128 Alexander and Godsalve both scoring 25. McKenzie took 5 wickets for 44. Putaruru then followed on and at a quarter to six very sportingly declared with two wickets down for 115, leaving United about 10 minutes in which to score 30 runs for an outright win. Le Pine accomplished this in half the time by hitting 5 sixes off successive balls.
