First Rehabilitation Bursars To Obtain Degrees At Sydney
The names of the first four New Zealand rehabilitation bursars to complete their degree examinations for Bachelor of Veterinary Science at the University of Sydney appfear in a pass list recently received by the Rehabilitation Department. They are Messrs. A. F. Glover (Blenheim), J. R. Johnston (Morrinsville), J. Ryan (Springston, South Canterbury) and A. H. Turnbull (Amberley, North Canterbury). A fifth, Mr J. P. Anderson, a New Zealander who served with the Australian; Imperial Forces, hopes to complete his degree in the special examinations for ex-servicemen students to be held at Sydney University this month. Complimentary reference to the achievement of the four successful candidates * was made at the last meeting of the Rehabilitation Board. All four students had studied at Sydney University before their war service and were completing their degrees on rehabilitation bursaries. The degree course lasts five years. With new students studying with rehabilitation assistance the first year is spent at a New Zealand University College, other than the two agricultural colleges, and the - remaining four years at Sydney. The Rehabilitation Board has had an arrangement with the-University of Sydney to take a varying number of New Zealand ex-servicemen students every year on New Zealand rehabilitation overseas bursaries. Already 29 ex-servicemen have ceeded to Sydney on that basis.
