New Block Of State Houses Starting Soon
Eight new State houses will be started at Whakatane within six weeks, Mr W. Sullivan, M,F., told a Beacon representative yesterday. In addition to that, tenders have been submitted by a, local firm for twelve more. King street is to be the site of the first group, and the new street, as yet unnamed, running parallel with the hospital access road will have the others. That road is now almost completed, with power and water reticulation, . footpaths, kerbing and channelling all ready for the houses.
