Mr and Mrs S. Haynes have returned to Auckland after a holiday visit to Mr N. Mathews, Whakatane.
. Lord and Lady Vesty, of London, accompanied by Messrs S. Snushall and Miller were recent visitors to Whakatane.
Mr Rex T. Morpeth leaves Whakatane on Sunday to join a party of launchmen rit Tauranga for a fortnight’s ~ cruise from- Bay of Plenty to the Great Barrier.
Nurses O’Brien, Wells and Marx have resigned from the district hospital staff,. Whakatane. The former two plan a hop picking excursion to the South Island.
Miss E. McGougan, accompanied by Miss J. Denham, of Auckland, is at present stayirig with her parents, Mr * and Mrs A. F. McGougan, Opouriao.
Rotarian I. B. Hubbard has been appointed a Director of the local club and chairman of the International Service Copimittee in place of Rotarian H. M. Bell, who recently left Whakatane. - '
Rotarians H. G. Warren and A. J. Canning, president and treasurer of the Whakatane Rotary Club, will attend the annual conference of the 52nd District of Rotary which opens at Auckland on Monday. It is possible two other members of the local club may also be able to be present. Reference to the death of Dr. A. R. F. Mackay. yras, made at the monthly meeting pf the Rehabilitation Board. The chairman, the Hon. C. F. Skinner, said the late Dr. Mackay had on occasion represented the Secretary to the Treasury at the Board’s monthly meetings and had earned the esteem of board-members. The Board stood for a moment as a mark of respect.
