United Cricketers Defeat P. & T. Team On First Innings

On Saturday United played P. and T. on the showgrounds and were successful by 71 runs on the first innings. United took first strike and compiled 161 runs, J. Yates batting brightly scoring 70. P. and T. were dismissed for 90 J. Rivett top scoring with 25. W. McKenzie took 6 wickets for 33. United declared wit a four wickets down for 118 in their second innings and at stumps P. and T. had lost eight wickets for 82. The Rangitaiki Defence Rifle Club opened the new season on Saturday. The attendance was not up to expectations.
