Awakeri Meeting

A general meeting of the Awakeri Y.F.C. was held in the Awakeri hall on February 3 to discuss general business and the district committee meeting agenda. Members were asked to prepare a speech on any interesting farm topic. Recently a field day was held in conjunction with Whakatane Beekeeeprs. Association, at Mr McMahon’s apiary, James Street, Whakatane. Demonstrations were given by Mr McMahon on methods of wiring frames and imbedding foundation comb. Mr Petty outlined the method of comb honey production in the early part of' the honey season. Mr Paterson, Government Apiary Instructor, demonstrated the procedure in opening up a hive and locating the Queen bee. Uncapping and extracting processes were done with latest equipment. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs McMahon. This concluded a very interesting and instructive afternoon.
