State Advances Agency Changes After having held the Whakatane Agency for the State Advances Corporation for over 20 years Messrs A. J. Canning and Co. ceased their representation on February 1. All agency work, including collection of rentals from State Houses, passed to the Public Trust as from that date. Similar changes are being made in all centres where Public Trust Offices are able to handle the work. Quiz On Beacon The novelty Quiz held at the Captain’s Cabin on Monday evening when each question was taken from The Beacon of last Friday resulted in a “jack-pot” no couple succeeding in answering more than three of the ten questions to be asked. The first question concerned the ruling underneath each article on page five. Placing the paper upside down contestants were asked whether the thick line was above the thin line. The next question was the number, of paragraphs in the leading article and the last question which cleared the remaining couples of the floor was on the same article asking whether a full stop appeared at the end of each of the paragraphs. After the “jack-pot” all couples came on to the floor again and the remaining questions were asked but a further three questions saw the floor clear once more.
