A very enjoyable game between Whakatane United and Opotiki played on Saturday ended in a draw. At stumps Opotiki were still 114 runs behind United’s total with 3 wickets to fall. United took first strike, and after 2 wickets • were down for 34 runs McKenzie and Le Pine then became associated and the partnership put on 206 runs before Le Pi»e was unlucky enough to be caught on the fence with his score at 99. McKenzie was out shortly after com-

pleting his century. His score included ten fours and four sixes. Of the later batsman Rigden did best and scored 56 in quick time. Opotiki’s innings was noticeable for a good partnership between Mason and Badeley worth 101 runs and an undefeated century by Badeley who at stumps had 152 to his credit.
