Young Competitor Wins Big Trophy At County Rod And Gun Club Shoot

All present enjoyed the first shoot held by the Whakatane County Rod and Gun Club on Sunday. The shooting was of a good standard and perfect conditions prevailed throughout the day. Two trophies were shot for and the first, the Mrs Matchitt Cup was won by G. Pulis a young shooter who was making his third appearance at the sport. He was the only one to shot the possible of ten targets. The other trophy, the C. A. Timbs Memorial Pigeon, was won by A. J. Brown after shooting off with G. Pulis and A. Mitchell.

At Mr J. D. Rivett’s request Mr W. Davies and Mr W. Semmens made the respective presentations with a few well chosen words. Mr Pulis and Mr Brown suitably replied. Details follow: —

Eye-Opener: A. J. Brown, J. Hayward, M. Matchitt and C. Matchitt all shot the possible. - 10 Bird Sweep: A. J. Brown Ist with 9 breaks, C. Matchitt, Yf. Semmens, M. Matchitt, J. Plamus, W. Hume and W. Davies all shot 8. Mrs Matchitt Cup: G. Pulis Ist, runners-up, W. Hume and M. Mat-" chitt. Gim Crack: J. Plamus and A. J. Brown tied with the possible. C. A. Timbs Memorial Pigeon: A. J. Brown Ist, runners-up, G. Pulis and A. Mitchell. , ' Double Rise, 5 pair: M. Matchitt Ist with 9. W. Mayo, L. Georga, S. Kerr, A. Mitchell, A. J. Brown and A. W. Jones all shot 7. Box Shoot: W. Davies, J. Plamus, and L. George all shot the possible. 16yds Trial: M. Matchitt, W. Davies, S. Kerr, W. Hume and J. Hayward shot possibles. Farewell Sweep: Possibles were shot by W. Davies, W. Hume, J. Plamus and A. J. Brown.
