Information Wanted

Whose Was Child Saved From River Recently? On Tuesday, January 13, Tommy Reid, aged 11, of Louvain Street, Whakatane, rescued an eight-years-old boy from the channel at the Heads. The Boys’ Brigade is applying to its London office to have his gallantry officially recognised. However, the one hitch in the proceedings is that neither the rescuer nor the local officers of the Brigade have been able to find out the name of the child who was rescued. It is believed he was a visitor here, but it is understood that his father was with him at the time. Mr Te Hira Fergusson, at Bridgers Ltd., is handling the matter for The Boys’ Brigade, and would appreciate any information anyone may give that will help to identify the rescued child and clear the way for Tommy Reid to get the recognition his action deserves.
