Miss Gwenda McDowall, of Rotorua, returned to Rotorua on Tuesday after a short holiday.

Mr M. Rawson of the Taneatua post office, is spending his annual leave at Tauranga.

Miss B. Garlick, formerly of Whakatane, is leaving New Zealand for England on the “Rakaia” on January 31.

Rev. F. J. Climo, who has been on holiday in Central Hawke’s Bay with his family, returned to Whakatane on Wednesday night.

Rev. H. C. Dixon, who has been visiting Whakatane, left for Rotorua on Wednesday on his way back to Auckland.

Rev. and Mrs J. Nummy, of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Taneatua, are on their annual holiday at Napier. Rev. Henry Hogg, of Whakatane, is conducting services in Mr Nummy’s absence.

Dr. E. T. Dawson, medical superintendent of the Whakatane District Hospital, is on his annual leave and will resume his duties on February 23. Dr. A. W. Fletcher Cole is acting superintendent during Dr. Dawson’s absence.

Rev. and Mrs H. M. Bell and their son Michael left Whakatane by service car on Wednesday on the first stage of their journey to Australia and thdnce the New Hebrides. To give members a chance of a last hand-shake, with their popular Padre, the Rotary Club’s luncheon broke up early. In addition a large group of well-wishers representing all sections of the community gathered to see the car off.
