Indian Art Exhibition
The most valuable and comprehensive exhibition of Indian Art ever presented in Europe epened at Burlington House, London, in November, when over one thousand exhibits from private collections and museums in Britain, the Continent and India itself were on view. Emphasis is on sculpture exhibits, which include many of the finest figures ever produced by Indians. Indian art dating from the Jam manuscripts to the' late Mogul court paintings is shown, while many exquisite examples of Indian artistry in jewels, ornaments, carpets, jades and textiles is devoted to contemporary Indian art. The exhibition continues until February. Already, provisional plans have been made for the 1948 Winter Exhibition which, it is hoped, willbe devoted to Russian art.
