Party Line Complaints Only “Casually Mentioned” Says Postmaster
Concerning complaints from party line subscribers about the difficulty of using the line because of the number of subscribers and the long private conversations the postmaster at Whakatane, Mr W. A. Trask, said, yesterday: “It is common right throughout New Zealand, especially on the congested or larger lines. The difficulty is also brought about in some degree by the long private conversations in the evenings, of thoughtless people who do not realise that is the only time farmers have for business calls. “Though the matter was casually mentioned by an occasional party line subscriber, Mr Trask said, no concrete information as t© tha delinquent( or delinquents had been forthcoming, and without formal complaints there was no action his Department could take.
