Life Savers Turn Out In Rough Conditions

Despite the cold rain and wind at Ohope on Sunday, the Whakatane Surf Life Saving Club’s members all turned out for their regular practise. Though the weather was against any drill or organised practice a small crowd of swimmers and a strong southerly rip gave the members some invaluable experience in the handling of crowds on such an occasion. The teams that practiced on Wednesday and Thursday for the Mt. Maunganui carnival showed vast improvement in the precision of their movement, the girls teams appearing to be the most advanced as yet. A practice has been arranged for all the teams at Ohope on Tuesday night at 6.30 p.m.
