SWEDISH PULP FOR PAPER MILLS CAUSES RUSH OF SHIPPING

Unusual activity on the river is due to the recent landing of a large shipment of Swedish chemical pulp at Auckland and the need for getting it to the Whakatane Paper Mills as quickly as possible. As each of the small ships coming to Whakatane can handle only about 150 tons, as many ships as can be spared from other runs have been diverted to transporting the pulp to Whakatane. There were two ships at the mill on Friday and more are to arrive at the rate of about six a week, until the whole consignment- has been landed at the mill.
