Whakatane Rowing Club’s All Out Bottle Drive

Bottles of any description will be at a premium following Saturday as the Whakatane Rowing Club is holding a bottle drive at Ohope and in Whakatane on that day. Five trucks will be in operation. Funds raised in this drive are to be used to send rowing crews to the forthcoming regattas at Hamilton, Mercer, Ngaruawahia and Tauranga. A Beacon reporter sat on the bank and watched some regatta crews in training last night and from the standard that was shown, it seems possible that the Whakatane crews might bring home a few of the prizes offering.
