WATER RESTRICTIONS STILL IN FORCE AND LIKELY TO TIGHTEN UP
Despite the heavy fall of rain last week-end, the water situation in Whakatane has not improved to the extent where hose restrictions can be lifted said Mr L. D. Lovelock, Town Clerk, yesterday. He added that water restrictions would probably be tightened up rather than lifted. Hoses could still be used only when held in the hand. Though restrictions are in force to ensure that the town’s water supply remains sufficient for domestic needs, several lawn-sprinklers have been noticed in operation around the town of late.
From this it would appear that a selfish section of the community either does not recognise the seriourness of the position or does not care enough to co-operate for the common good.
