Japan As Opportunity For Mission Work

The claims of Japan for Christian missionary activity was emphasised by the Rev. W. T. Williams at the Christchurch Diocesan Synod. Mr Williams spoke from his experience as chaplain to the Primate on his recent visit to Japan. General MacArthur, he said, had pointed out that Japan was the key to.the Orient, and that what Japan did the rest of the East would follow. Christianity now had its greatest opportunity in Japan. On the motion of Archbishop West-Watson, Synod decided to askL the Anglican Board of Missions to do its best to arrange for a New~ Zealand clergyman to be attached; to the Church in Japan arid to act as liaison officer between the Churches of the two countries.
