England’s Gratitude For Dominion’s Aid
Words like these from Whitehall, London, should encourage all in their efforts to help the Mother Country. “This letter may come rather as a bolt from the blue, but we felt it was about time some of us back in England sent you a really personal thanks for all the help you New Zealanders are giving us. “Don’t imagine, because the usual way of expressing our gratitude takes the form of a polite note from Whitehall addressed to your Government, that this is all we feel on the subject. The ordinary Englishman realises that when you sand us your food and buy our products it is not because you must, but because you are anxious to help the Old Country through a -difficult patch. We know we have cause to be grateful and we arc not likely to forget your generosity and the sacrifices you have made on our behalf. ' -
“Thanks again for your help and maybe one day we will be able to repay your good turn.”
