Pistol-To-Head Wage Bargaining
It is rumoured, with some persistence, that the all-time high in pistol-to-liead wage bai’gaining has been reached by a gang of haymakers in this district. A farmer needed harvesters. At last he got a gang interested. He offered 5/- an hour. But the crop looked likely to spoil. The gang figured they could do a bit batter. So they put in the nips for 6/-. The farmer gave. Then they nipped him for a hot dinner every day. He gave again. So they demanded ice cream twice a day. They got it. H© had to have that crop in, and they knew it.
