The Gov'ernor-General, Sir Bernard Freyberg, V.C., and Lady Freyberg with General Sir Oliver Leese and Lady Leese, Sir Andrew and Lady Thorne, and party arrived at Taupo on Saturday. They are spending a ten-day camping holiday on the hilltop property at Taupo.
The Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, was discharged from Lewisham Hospital on Saturday. He has returned to his home in Northland, where he is convalescing for several more days before resuming his official duties. Mr Fraser was admitted to hospital a fortnight ago . with a bronchial cold.
Mr M. Henderson, Te Awamutu, arrived in Whakatane at the weekend to join the literary staff of the Beacon.
Sergeant M. Farrell, officer in charge of the Whakatane Police Station was admitted to the district hospital on December 30 and is still a patient there. His progress is reported satisfactory, but his illness may last some weeks.
