Fair Influx Of Visitors Despite Paralysis OutBreak: Business Brisk
Despite the infantile paralysis outbreak, there is a fair influx of visitors for the holiday period, though not the number of campers that is usual for the district. In spite of the camping restrictions Ohope is beginning to show signs of the arrival of the holidays. Over the week-end many people arrived at the beach under unpleasant weather conditions and more arrived yesterday and today. Still, veteran campers and permanent residents say the numbers are not up to the average of past season. Shopping business is brisk, in spite of the fact that there are not so many children on the street as is usual at this time. However, it would appear that the parents are spending freely, and .quite the greater part of the demand so far as toys are concerned has been for the better quality articles despite prices that would have caused any mother to faint with horror a few years back. The same can be said of gifts for adults. Most gift buyers are selecting the better goods, and cash seems to be fairly free. Most shops are crowded.
