Hit And Run
Strong action against a motorist who allegedly knocked a cyclist off his machine recently and failed to stop was demanded by Crs D. C. Butler and A. F. McGougan at the Whakatane County Council’s meeting on Wednesday. . Cr Butler said the young man, from Edgecumbe, had had his arm broken and was lucky not to have been killed. He wanted to know what the traffic inthe police were doing abouff it. Mr A. Carling, inspector, assured Jiirn tfrat, all. the information he could gather hadV been : -handed to the police for action, and that they were investigating. Mr McGougan said the matter should be pressed until an arrest was made, and Mr Butler added that he hoped the penalty would be heavy.
