At Tauranga on Saturday the: Whakatane P. & T. cricketers beat the Oropi (Tauranga) club by. an. innings and 35 runs. Features of the match were the fine knocks by J. B. Rivett, P. & T. vice-captain, who scored 65 including 5 sixes, and good bowling by Malaquin and Rivett for P. & T. and by Beston for Oropi. Oropi’s second innings was r a debacle due to the whirlwind attack of Rivett and Malaquin, the former taking 6 wickets for 3 runs and the latter 4 for 3; Only two Oropi batsmen broke the “duck.” - Details:— Oropi Ist innings 56 (Wrighton 11). Bowling for P. & T. Rivett took 4 wickets for 7 and Malaquin 4 for 13. P. & T. Ist innings, 101 (Rivett 65, McCready 19). Bowling for Oropi Beston 4 for 25 and Merriman 4 for 21. . Oropi 2nd innings 10 (Mead .2, Kirk 4 extras 4.) Bowling for P. & T. Rivett 6 for 3, Malaquin 4 for 3.
