Transport Commissioner Appeals For Greater Caution On The Roads
Ten people were killed in traffic accidents last month, said the Commissioner of Transport, Mr C. L. Laurenson. This was a reduction of four on the figures for November, 1946.
Three people last month were passengers in motor vehicles, three were pedestrians, two were drivers, and one was a motor-cyclist and one a push-cyclist.
Tens of thousands of New Zealanders will be on the road during the holiday season, said Mr Laurenson.
“I make urgent appeal to everyone for more care. During the De-cember-January period last year,. ::28 people lost their lives in road accidents. In almost every* case those people would still have been alive had someone not been caredess. I would urge you all motorists' •■cyclists and pedestrians,; .to . make -'CE^-e "this Christmas,” said Mr Laurenson.
