Special Rationing Arrangements For Xmas

Following the recent- announcement of special rationing arrangements for Christmas, the Food and Rationing Controller, .Mr A. J. Costello, has given details of the availability of food coupons over the •Christmas and New Year period. Tea and sugar coupons Nos. 9 to 12 and butter coupons Nos. 9 to 11, which would normally be available on December 22, would now be available a week earlier, on Decem"ber 15. Meat coupon No. 9, which was not normally , valid until December 22, also would be available from December 15, while meat coupon No. IQ would be available from December 22. This advance of’one week in the availability of these coupons ■did not affect the date of their expiry, which would be the date given :ifi the coupon calendar of the back ■cover of the ration book.

With regard to the amount of the ■Christmas meat ration, Mr Costello said that in the North Island the value of coupon H 8 would be Is 3d and of J 8 9d, while in the South Island the values would be Is 5d and lOd respectively. The banking values of these coupons to retailers would be 9d for H 8 and 5d for JB.
