PRETTY WEDDING LAST SATURDAY: MORRISSEY—FLINT
On Saturday Knox Presbyterian Church, Whakatane, was the scene of a pretty wedding, when Beryl Valarie, only daughter of Mr and Mrs N. S. Flint, Victoria Avenue, Whakatane, was married 'to John William, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Morrissey, Valley Road, Pongakawa, Tauranga. Rev. H. M. Bell officiated. .
The church had been decorated with Christmas lillies and gladioli by friends of the bride. The bride who entered the church with her father, looked most charming in her exquisite bridal gown of off white embossed faconne, cut on classical lines. The bodice was daintily gathered in the front, and a sweetheart neckline was edged with richelieu, full bishop sleeves and long pointed cuffs. The full skirt fell away to a graceful long train; the lovely embroidered tulle veil was held in place with a coronet of orange blossoms, and it formed a second train. She wore silver shoes. Her lovely shower bouquet was of Christmas and tiny arum lillies, carnations, cream rosebuds and maiden hair fern.
The bride, on leaving the church, was presented with a lovely white horse-shoe, by little Carol King. The bridesmaids,- Miss PatriciaStuart, Whakatane, and Miss Maureen Morrissey, Tauranga, sister of the bridegroom, were frocked alike in dainty pale apricot *organdie full length frocks, cut on slim lines. The bodices were gathered in the front, and short puff sleeves worn. -Dainty frills from the shoulder to the hemline gave added charm. They wore silver shoes and pretty coronets of feathers, : Their shower bouquets were of. cream and. lemon shaded roses, carnations, daisies and maiden hair. rfern. . , ... The little flower-girl, Judith King, Whakatane, looked sweet in her salmon pink long full frock of organdie, with dainty frills around the neckline and around the skirt. Her headdress was a dainty coronet of pink rosebuds. The bridegroom was attended. by Mr Jack Moorman, Wellington, as best man, and Mr H. Guiness, Tauranga, -as groomsman.
The reception was held in _. the King Street hall where about * 100 guests were received by Mrs Flint, assisted by Mrs Morrissey. Mrs Flint chose a smart frock of blue floral sheer, with white accessories, and a lovely shoulder spray of carnations in shades of cream and pink. Mrs Morrissey wore a smart wine silk crepe frock, with a matching spray of roses and carnations, and fawn accessories. The beautiful three-tiered wedding cake held pride of place on the bridal table, and while the cake was being cut the best man read the telegrams, all conveying best wishes. The toastmaster was the Rev. Bell, and the usual toast list was honoured. After the reception guests were invited to the bride’s parents’ home to view the many lovely gifts. Many cheques were also received. The bridegroom’s gift to the bride was a beautiful silver and diamond necklgcg,.tpJ;he .pearl necklace each and to themower'girl a gold chain bangle. The bridal couple left on a motoring honeymoon, the bride wearing a smart suit of mist blue silk crepe and a model blue hat to tone, white handbag and white kid and plastic shoes. Mr and Mrs Morrissey will make their home in Tauranga.
