Edgecumbe Children’s Party Cancelled

The November meeting of the Edgecumbe Women’s Institute was held as usual in the Presbyterion hall, with Mrs Fergusson presiding over a fair attendance. Two new members, Mrs Tunncliffe and Mrs R. Sutton were enrolled and welcomed. '

A large amount of correspondence was dealt with, and entries for the A. and P. Show were discussed. The secretary read an interesting letter from the Institute link in England. Mrs Burgess gave a report on a recent Federation meeting. Competitions resulted:— Rose, Mrs Black-1, Mrs Teasdale 2, Miss Teasdale 3.Best flower, Mrs Malpas 1, Mrs Martin 2, Mrs H. Cai’ter 3. Best vegetable, Mrs Sim 1, Mrs Woollett 2.

At a recent meeting of the committee, it was decided to cancel the December meeting and the children's party, and that funds collected for the children should be diverted to the Parcel for Britain Fund. Toys in hand are to be sent to the Whakatane Hospital for the children’s ward. - _ * • <*•**>* .
