British Experts Survey Polish Coal Export Possibilities
Warsaw.—Britain, already importing Polish coal for her production drive, is sending experts to survey the possibilities of increased coal exports. Mr Leslie Forder, Port Director from Wales, has. arrived in Szczecin (Stettin), Baltic port, to inspect coal loading facilities. Mr Shonfiela, representing the London Financial Times, and his wife are visiting the Silesian coal basin. Mrs Shonfield represents the British Export Trade Research Organisation, and is studying Polish coal problems. Polish trade unionists pointed out at a conference in Katowice with a Swedish representative that if Poland could get Swedish electrical equipment for her mines she could increase coal output by 60 per cent, which meant 100 million tons a year. Polish coal sent to Sweden in return would allow Sweden to overcome industrial lags caused by lack of coal.
