Whakatane Bowling Club’s Handicap Pairs: Week-end Play

With an extremely unpleasant and tricky wind blowing, and an occasional shower of rain, three more rounds in the Whakatane Bowling Club Handicap Pairs were played on Saturday. Only two pairs won all three matches in the rounds played, i these being the “two lifers”: L. H. King and A. White (s) and the “one lifers” E. J. Bell and C. R. Coates (s). Detailed results:—sth Round Two Lifers: King and White (s) beat Cockerell and Henderson (s). One Lifers: Stewart and Spong (s) beat Gerring and Burgess (s); E. J. Bell and Coates (s) beat Ruth- , erford and Caisley (s); Harrison and Dixon (s) beat Thompson and Hellyar (s); Campbell and Creeke (s) beat R. Wilson and G .Head (s). 6th Round King and White (2 lifers) beat Stewart and Spong (1 life); Bell and. Coates (s) beat Harrison and Dixon (s); Campbell and Creeke (s) beat Cockerell and Henderson (s). 7th Round E. J. Bell and Coates (s) beat Campbell and Creeke (s); White, a bye. Smith Stars Charlie Good’s “variety” team was once again too good for the challengers, “Henderson’s Kilties.” Until afternoon tea adjournment, the Kilties were working well, but from the restart the “Variety” team turned on the works.
