“Dead” Man Lives

How long can a man live after his heart stops beating? This question is important to doctors, who are often able to revive a stopped heart. But doctors know that body cells die at different intervals. It is thought that the brain cells begin / to disintegrate after eight, minutes, so many believed that circulation could not be restored after this interval. However, a doctor in Boston reported a case in which a patient recovered after his heart had stopped beating for twenty minutes. Surgeons were operating on his left lung when the heart stopped. Cardiac stimulants were injected. The doctors then manipulated- the exposed heart to produce artificial circulation. At the same time artificial respiration was maintained. After r twenty minutes the heart gradually picked up its own beat. ,
