Pongakawa Rabbit Board Area Extended To Rotorua District
' Formal advice from the Department of Agriculture that its boundaries had been altered and re-de-fined to include the Rotorua extension was received by the Pongakawa Rabbit Board at the November meeting held at Paengaroa. After full 'discussion it was decided that, in view of the fact that ratepayers in the Rotorua extended district would not be required to pay rates until the 1948-49 financial year, with the result that the necessary funds would not be available until then, the work of rabbit destruction in the new district be commenced in April, 1948 and that the Inspector, Mr Davis, arrange for the district to be inspected with a view to submitting a report on the staff required and the state of infestation of the new area with a view to having all preliminary work completed so that the Board could proceed early in the new financial year.
Mr Davis was also directed to estimate the expenditure required during 1948-49 for the purpose of rabbit destruction on Crown and Native land in the extended area so that this report: cold be forwarded to the Agriculture Department.
