New Bay Of Plenty Motor Cycle Club Formed
Approximately thirty enthusiasts attended the inaugural meeting of the Bay of Plenty Motor-cycle Club last week. They decided to form the club, formally, agreed upon its name, and elected the following officers:— Patron, Mr R. Whittle; president, Mr L. H. Hammond; vice-presidents, Messrs J. Patterson, M. Lennie, C. L. Jordan, W. E. Armstrong,- G. T. Lodge, N. McG. Bremner, A. J. Moore, F. Lysaght, J. Hignett, R. Chapman, A. Wray, A. Marsh Senr., D. Tocker and Dr. R. Akel; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr K. Farquhar; committee, Messrs F. Cameron, B. Greenslade, T. Conway, W. Bigwood, D. Henry, C. 'R. Whittle; club captain, Mr J. Marsh; vice-cap-tain, Mr C. Green; publicity officer, Mr G. Haeusler; honorary auditor, Mr H. G. Warren.
Objects of the club are to further the interests of motor cycling in the district, to provide opportunities to promote good-fellowship between motor cyclists. and motorists and pedestrians; do promote and hold reliability trials, club runs, motorcycle race meetings and social gatherings.
Subscriptions were fixed at 10/a year. It was decided to hold a reliability trial and picnic run to Lake Rotoma on Sunday next, to commence from Edgecumbe township at 9.30 a.m. This to be. in the nature of a run to provide experience for those who have commenced riding since the pre-war club went into recession. All riders whether members or not are invited to attend. Competitions will be held at Lake Rotoma.
