School Calf Clubs’ Remarkable Growth During Recent Years
The Rangitaiki Plains Calf Clubs* shows appear to be well on the way to establishing a record year for entries received by the individual schools of the Bay. During the last week in November all local schools will be holding their individual shows and judges will be entrusted with the task of selecting calves to be sent to the Championship judging at Taneatua on December 3. A few years ago one or two judges performed the stupendous task of judging all calves within a week or ten days. During the last two or three years, school clubs have been encouraged to secure their own judges, and as a result, members of Young Farmers’ Clubs will officiate in at least one of the schools this year. The field day and indoor competitions are being held at Taneatua, on Wednesday, December 3. The Headmaster and the School Committee, under the guidance of the Central Executive, have accepted the responsibility of providing accommodation and facilities for the successful running of this big event. Parents will be provided with fred' car space, hot water and refreshments. An excellent range of trophies will be won and presented during'the afternoon. Given a fine day and the full support of all parents and all schools, December 3 should well be a memorable occasion.
