School Pupils Deliver Addresses At Rotary Lunch

Five senior pupils of-the Whakatane High School were the speakers at last Wednesday’s Rotary Club luncheon. They delivered prepared addresses in a manner which was the subject of general laudatory comment. The obvious training and preparation behind each address called for the warmest congratulation. The speakers and their subjects were: Nigel Palmes, “Life of Lord Nelson”; Denise Le Lievre, “Napoleon Bonaparte”; Jemes Chadwick, “Palestine”; Beverley King, “Life of Hone Heke”; and Lorna Alley, leader of the group, “Medicine Marches On.” Guest at the luncheon was Mr J. Mullins, chairman of the Hospital Board, who expressed appreciation of the work that Rotary was doing, particularly in inviting the children along.
