South African Expert To Study N.Z. Flax-Growing
The flax-growing industry in New Zealand will be examined by Mr F. Laubscher, a specialist in plant breeding from the Department of Agriculture 6f South Africa, who has arrived from San Francisco. He has already visited Europe and North America, and after spending about a fortnight in New Zealand will visit Australia before returning to his own country. Mr Laubscher, who is head of the plant breeding station at the College of Agriculture at Potchefstroorn, will meet officers of the Departments of Agriculture and Industrial and Scientific Research in Wellington, and will then go to Palmerston North and the flax-growing areas at Foxton. He will also visit Christchurch before leaving for Australia.
