Scots Tribute To Late Mr J. King
“I must refer to the passing of an old' and valued supporter, in the person of»Mr Jack King Snr. who for the past five years has been associated with the caretaking of the hall.” says the . annual report of the Chief of the Whakatane District Caledonian Society, Mr D. Andersen. “In the late Mr King, the Society has lost a staunch and tried member, and I take this opportunity of again extending to his family the deepest sympathy of the Society as a whole. With regard to the position of caretaking I desire to thank Mrs King for her untiring work in this connection, and later in the year Mrs McKenzie, who has occupied the position since Mrs King was forced to relinquish the work on her husband’s death.”
