Pretty Rainbow Wedding Celebrated At Whakatane: Secker—Comiskey

Knox Presbyterian Church, Whakatane, was the scene of a pretty rainbow wedding, when Colleen, only daughter of Mr and, Mrs T. Comiskey, Main Road, Whakatane, was married to Donald Leonard, eldest son of Mr and Mrs L. A. Seeker, of Christchurch. The officiating minister was the Rev. H. Bell.

The church “had been tastefully decorated with shades of pink apple blossom and stock by Miss Shirley Comiskey, cousin of the bride. The bride, who entered the church with her father, looked most charming in her bridal gown of ivory jaconne, cut on classical lines, with fitting bodice, full Bishop sleeves, and long pointed cuffs. Her full skirt fell away to a graceful train, and the beautifully embroidered tulle, veil, was' held in place with a coronet of orange blossoms, forming a second dainty train. Her lovely trailing bouquet was of cream roses and carnations, and relieved with , a touch of pale lavender, lilac and maiden hair fern.

The bride was attended by three bridesmaids and a little flower girl. The bridesmaids were Miss Betty Derecourt (Otorohanga), in pale Lavender marquisette, Miss June Stevens (Waimana) pale lemon marquisette and Miss Margaret Terry (Edgecumbe) pale green marquisette. The frocks were made

alike on slim lines, with matching sequinned basques, and full skirts trimmed with graceful flouncing and matching flowers. They wore shoulder length net veils, also sequinned, and top-knots of flowers to match.... Their bouquets were of sweets peas and carnations and fern. „ pr. The little flower girl, Annette Ruff (Waimana) looked a picture in her pale pink Crinoline frock of taffeta and net, with bonnet to match. She carried a silver basket of flowers in shades of pink. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Robin Seeker, as best man, and Mr M. Tyson and Mr W. Rutherford as groomsmen. The reception was held in the King Street Hall, and Mrs T. Comiskey assisted by Mrs L. A. Seeker, received the many guests, some coming from Invercargill, Mokai, Auckland and Otorohanga. Mrs Comiskey had chosen a smart frock of black pin-tucked silk crepe, relieved with a shoulder spray of cyclamen shaded flowers, and wore a smart black hat. Mrs Seeker’s frock was of moss rose silk crepe, with hat to tone and navy accessories. The lovely three-tiered wedding cake which held'pride of place on the bridal table, had been made by Mrs Ruff Snr.

While the cake was being cut the best man read out a sheaf of telegrams, all conveying best wishes. The toastmaster at the reception was the Rev. Bell, and the. usual toast list was honoured.

After the reception, guests were given a cordial invitation to the bride’s parents’ home to view the many beautiful and useful gifts. Many cheques were received also. The bouquets were all made by Miss Percy, of Taneatua. The bridal couple left later on a motoring honeymoon, the bride wearing a smart suit of royal‘blue wool, and a model hat of black, with a red feather spray and black veil and carried a rew plastic handbag.

Mr and Mrs Seeker will make their home in Christchurch.
