Fire Brigade Record The Te Kuiti Fire Brigade team, Ray Leggett and Tom Nealon, competing at Te Awamuwtu in the King Country Fire Brigade Championships, won the two-man event in the N.Z. record time of 28 3-5 isecs. The N.Z. record time, 37- 1-5 secs, for this event was set at Gisborne in 1945 when Te Kuiti—with the same team—tied with Taumarunui. Later the two Te Kuiti men lowered this to 30 seconds- when competing at Marton. Low Dutch Death Rate Holland has a considerably lower death-rate than almost any other country. The rate of infantile mortality is particularly low. Much credit is due to the natural, or supernatural cleanliness of the people of Holland, where (it was pointed out in a British guide book of some 70 years ago) spiders stand a worse chance than in any other country of the globe; and much also to the high sense of national and civic hygiene.
