New Post Office For Whakatane This Year?

If possible, work on the new Whakatane Post Office, for which £25,000 has been provided in the Estimates, will be started this year, said the Minister of Works, Mr Semple, in reply to an inquiry in the House from Mr W. Sullivan, Member for Bay of Plenty. Mr Sullivan asked what progress had been made with the plans being prepared for the new building, for which a site had been acquired. Mr Semple said the plans were almost completed, and if possible the work would be put in hand this j^ear. Mr Sullivan asked if it was expected that the £25,000 would be spent this year. “If it is possible to do so—yes,” was the Minister’s reply.
