WEDDING BELLS

DENT—RANBY On the evening of October 4 Joan Louise, second daughter of Mr and Mrs Ranby, Edgecumbe, was married to Stanley, elder son of Mrs and the late Mr R. Dent, of Whakatane. Rev. J. C. J. Wilson conducted the ceremony at St. George’s Anglican Church, Whakatane, music being provided by Mrs Fraser. The Church and place of reception were prettily decorated with, spring blossoms by Miss Margaret Simpson and Mrs Cowie.

,The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, looked charming in a classical gown of magnolia cloque which featured a pearlstudded yoke and full train. Her veil of tulle, fell from a coronet of orange blossom. She carried a bouquet of cream daffodils, freezias and white daisies. 1

In attendance as bridesmaids were Misses Gwen and Hazel Ranby, both sisters of the bride, who were dressed alike in duck-egg blue georgette frocks with gold and green beaded designs, and top-knots of duck-egg blue tulle; with mauve daisies. They carried bouquets of freezias, mauve ranuculi and daisies.

The bridegroom was attended by Mr Arthur Head as best man and Mr John De’nt as groomsman. After the ceremony a reception for over a hundred gudsts was held in. the Masonic Hall. Mrs Ranby, wearing a navy silk suit and navy accessories, received,the guests. Assisting her was the bridegroom’s mother who wore an almond green suit with brown accessories. Both wore shoulder sprays of carnations, freezias and daisies.

’ Mr C. Hills ably performed / the duties of toastmaster. Mrs and Miss - Dawn Armstrong entertained with a popular selection of songs. When the young couple left on their honeymoon, a tour by car of the North Island, Mrs Dent wore a fawn coat over a mustard two-piece crepe suit, with which she wore brown accessories.
