WOMEN’S WARD PRAISED

MR McGOUGAN’S SUGGESTIONS

The new women’s yvard at the hospital was the subject of enthusiastic comment from the patients who were in it said Mr McGougan. lovely and compared fayourably with anything she had seen. Mr McGougan commented on what one woman had told him.\ When she was advised to go into hospital by the doctor she had " been frightened. She had heard a great deal of unfavourable comment regarding the hospital but had been surprised at the wonderful treatment she had received. The woman .was high in her praise of the institution.

Mr McGougan said there was a lot of talk circulating about conditions at the'hospital which was quite groundless. Something should be done to present the true picture to the public. The hospital and the attention given there had been on many occasions quoted by people who had passed through as on the highest level. Old Men’s Home Mr McGougan commented on the number of old people to be found in the hospital which he declared was no place for them. He thought the time had come when " an old men’s home was very necessary to Whakatane. Messrs. Buddie and Suckling were appointed visiting committee for the ensuing month.
