LEGION OF FRONTIERSMEN
VISITORS NIGHT
With a large number of visitors from Edgecumbe and Whakatane, the first visitors night was held by the Legion at the Parish Hall on Thursday, September 25.
Official business being reduced to a minimum, Capt. Simons O.C. of the Legion introduced the first half of the evening’s entertainment. This was a lantern slide talk by Capt. L. W. G. Rogers (Church Army) of Edgecumbe. Capt. Rogers subject was photographic scenes of New Zealand, the slides, mostly in colour, being produced from real photographs. The presentation was well received as was also the community singing led by Capt. Rogers. The “Spirit of the-Legion” was the subject of a talk given by Quartermaster C. R. Coates, and he followed up this subject with a short talk on the early exploration of New Zealand. The ladies served a dainty supper, and so ended a pleasant “Visitors Night.”
