Growth Of Tauranga
The following interesting figures on housing in the Tauranga district were brought before the Transport Authority (Mr E. Phelan) recently in connection with an application for a new taxi licence: House building permits granted by the County Council from October 1, 1946 to September 5, 1947: Gate Pa area, 17; Judea-Bethlehem, 23; and Otumoetai, 32. Permits for new houses and flats by the Borough Council from September 1, 1946 to August 30, 1947—75. Transit Houses: 63 occupied, 20 extra to be available shortly, and a waiting list of 98.
