WHAKATANE CLUB All grades of the' Whakatane Championships reached the semifinal stage last Saturday. The results are as follows: Senior: A. Morpeth beat Cradwick; A. P. Smith beat Pattison; I. Wylds beat D. Morpeth; Hockin beat Hyland. Intermediate: Roach beat Henderson; Bridger beat Mussett; Combes beat Suckling; L. B. Smith beat Littlejohn. Junior: Canning beat Reynolds; Murray beat Stone; Howat beat Bushett; White beat Gartshore. The draw for the semi-finals to be played next Saturday is:— Senior: A. Morpeth v A. P. Smith; I. Wylds v N. Hockin. Intermediate: L. Roach v A. Brid--ger; F. R. Combes v L. B, Smith. Junior: M. Canning v M. Murray; W. G. Howat v J. White. The flights and knock-out competitions will also be continued, all games being played in single formation. A Stableford Bogey will be played in conjunction with these games.

The best cards in Saturday’s Medal were: W. Howat 88—22—66; H. Bushett 90—20—70; N. Moore 81 —lo—7l.

A team from Te Puke played Whakatane on its home course on Sunday in the annual inter-club match. Although the result was fairly even both sides are looking forward to the next fixture.

Attention of local players is drawn to a one-day tournament at Te Puke next Sunday. A Stableford played with the inter-club match on Sunday resulted: M. Murray 37; F. R. Combes and A. Moore 35. Tournament Entries Members of the Whakatane Club should take note that entries for the Labour weekend- tournament definitely close next Saturday, September 27. TE TEKO LADIES’ CLUB
