COMING OF AGE

RECENT AW AKER! FUNCTION MISS THELMA JENSEN A most enjoyable evening was held at the Awakeri Hall when, approximately 50 friends and relations gathered to wish Miss Thelma Jensen a very happy 21st birthday and to welcome home Maurice, brother of Thelma, and her fiance, Jack Petersen.

The evening went with a swing from beginning to end under the capable M.C., Mr Harold Webby.

The feature of the party was the toast proposed by Mr Jensen during the presentation of the traditional key to his daughter, who in her turn thanked her father and every body present for their kind wishes and beautiful gifts. She then cut the cake.

Later on Mr Anderson .welcomed Jack and Maurice home and both replied suitably. Music was supplied for dancing by Mrs Fowell, while Miss Jill Fowell, Mr Anderson and Mr Webby obligingly supplied extras. Songs were given by Pat and Beryl Webby and Shirley Jensen. Mr Ron Walls also sang and accompanied himself on his guitar.

Dancing continued until a late hour when a very happy evening closed to the strains of Old Lang Syne.
