WEDDING BELLS

GRANT—HITCHCOCK A pretty wedding was solemnised at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church Matamata recently, when Marie, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs Hitchcock, of Te Poi, was married to Herbert, younger son of Mr and Mrs E. S. Grant, of Whakatane, the Rev. Murray H. Feist officiating. The bride who entered the church on the arm of her father, wore a charming frock of cream satin with a long waisted fitting bodice and full gathered skirt forming a train, she wore a full length veil of silk net and tatted lace held in place with a halo of artificial orange blossom, and carried a sheaf of arum lilies. The bride’s attendants were her sister, Miss Shirley Hitchock, and the bridegroom’s sister, Miss Violet Grant, who wore duck egg blue brocaded cloque made on similar lines to the bride and carried bouquets of red anemonies. They wore halos of red anemonies in their hair.

The flower girl, Wendy Semmens, niece of the bride, wore pale pink georgette, carrying a posy of blue and also wearing a halo of blue anemonies in her hair.

The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr Ted Grant as best man, and Mr Bill Goodwin as groomsman.

A reception was held in the Rialto Tea Rooms.

Mrs Hitchcock and Mrs Grant, mothers of bride and bridegroom respectively receiving the guests. The happy couple left later on their honeymoon, the bride travelling in a mustard coloured frock and coat with brown accessories. Their future home will be at Whakatane.
