LEAGUE OF MOTHERS
AUGUST MEETING ■ CHILDREN ENTERTAIN Mrs Metcalfe presided over a good attendance of mothers and children at the August meeting of the League of Mothers. The meeting opened in the usual manner, Mrs Good then giving the thought for the month, “I expect to pass this way but once. Any good thing that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature let me do it now let me not neglect it, nor defer it, for I shall not pass this way again.” Mrs Hogg gave a short talk on. Leper work, telling how desperately. help was needed to carry on the great work. As it was school - holiday time there was a good attendance of children of all ages,- who entertained the mothers with items. The programme supplied by them was excellent and varied, the following taking part: Dawn Kilgour, song; John Good, recitation; Ann Stenhouse, recitation; Allan Breward, recitation; Brian Good, recitation; Arthur Metcalfe, pianoforte solo; Barbara Breckon, song; Nance Kilgour, Highland Fling; Russell Hirst, piper; Elaine, Colleen and GeorgeJohnston, song trio; Kevin Lysaght, piano accordion; Norman Judd*, song; George Johnston, recitation; David Metcalfe, song; Dorothy Need- - ham, recitation; Bob Darvill, pianoforte solo.
On behalf of the mothers Mrs Metcalfe thanked the children, all present * agreeing the afternoon was both successful and very enjoyable. The meeting closed with the sing-* ing of the National Anthem.
